1. The largest organ of the body is the Skin. It is an
amazing organ – protective, flexible, waterproof and act like a major sensor.
2. Skin constantly changes and regenerates itself. Skin
contains 64% of water. Our Skin is thicker than a piece of paper.
3. Our human skin has strength of 0.871-1.169 newton and
its energy is calculated as 3.75 – 6.432 N.mm.
4. A human loses 30,000 to 40,000 cells from the skin by
just flaking off the surface, every hour. Over a day, we lose almost a million
skin cells. In year we shed 3.6kg (8lb) of skin. The dust that collects on your
table, chair or any other surfaces is mostly dead human skin cells.
5. There are four layers of skin in our body. Epidermis is
the thinnest layer whereas Dermis is the thickest layer of our skin.
6. There are 25 to 30 layers of skin contains dead cells
that act like a gate that safely keeps the water and chemical inside your body.
7. A man’s skin flakes have germs than a woman’s – but a
woman’s have a greater variety.
8. We have different skin color because of the pigment
called Melanin and Ultraviolet radiation of the sun.
9. Ultraviolet radiation from the sun is absorbed by our
skin to produce Vitamin D. Excess rays can damage to our skin cells. The skin
produces Melanin to block these excess ultraviolet rays.
10. People who are living near the Equator region receive
high sunlight and high ultraviolet rays so their skin is dark. People who live
away from Equator receive less sunlight and less ultraviolet rays, which is the
reason behind the fair skin.
